Exercise Log (37/251)

SU25/25, PU25/25, Run 13 Miles (Watch stopped), Bike 23.6M (1:41:53) Avg, Pace (4:19)

I hate Thorlos. They shrink in the washer/dryer (because they’re wool). I got halfway through the run and because my socks had shrunk, my shoe started rubbing. I looked down and it was already starting to bleed and, of course, now I’ve got to run back because I’m a long way from home. Fortunately, I was wearing the pair of lightweight nylon running mittens – really just skins or shells – that I’d bought at the Rock and Roll Marathon vender fair. So I took one of the mittens off and stuffed it in my shoe between the bleeding skin and the side of the shoe and made it home just fine! The darn band aids didn’t stick either, so of course, my nipples started bleeding too. (For non-distance runners this is one of the treats you get to look forward too – when your shirt gets wet, it rubs. If you are out there long enough, it rubs off the skin and then you bleed. Great! Before I took up running, I barely knew I had nipples! They sell protectors (little, yellow octagonal shields , but they’re expensive, and I’m cheap, so there you go!) What a great run! The bike ride was fun, the sun finally came out and it was beautiful. Need to buy some of those triathlete laces. My bike shoe laces keep getting caught in the dérailleur. I finally stopped and tied them into about 5 knots and didn’t have any problems after that.
